Kornbluth Camblor, David

Abstract

This text describes and analyzes the process of financialization of the construction and real estate guild (Cámara Chilena de la Construcción) in Chile between 1951 and 2019. The socio-historical analysis explores the content of this guild’s memories and its joint-stock companies. The press’s study shows the diversification of the “Cámara” and its gradual transformation as one of the most prominent business groups that participate in the financial sector. These organized construction capitalists’ actions in the constitution of a capital market favorable to their activities are crystal clear. Here, conclusions deal with the coexistence and contradiction of incumbent concepts, such as guild, joint-stock company, and business group.
