Selectividad por el tamaño de las presas en el jurel (Trachurus symmetricus murphyi) y la caballa (Scomber japonicus) del norte de Chile.

Abstract

The prey-size selectivity is analyzed for T. s. murphyi and S. japonicus, based on Ursin (1973) methodology, from autumn 1989 to summer 1990. The preferences by prey size in T. s. murphyi and S. japonicus not stay clearly represent in normal distribution because the natural food offert will be abundant during all the year. T. s. murphyi selects prey 11,8 times larger tham prey of S. japonicus, in relation with predator bodyweight. This pattern is maintained through all period of study.
