Abstract

2018 has been characterized by the explosive emergence offeminist mobilizations which has become known as “the feministMay” or “the feminist springtime” or —even— the beginningof a “new feminist wave”. The emphasis on domestic violence—at first mainly sexual violence— characterized the proteststhat came to life primarily in university settings. A cultural LA VENTANA, NÚM. 55 / 2022158approach to this mobilization helps to shed light on certainaspects that are associated with the scope of this kind ofmobilization beyond its institutional “success” or “failure”.This leads to the aim of describing the growth and complexityof the violence frame and the possibilities it has on socialresonance. Consequently, an analysis was carried out basedon the framing process perspective and from the complexityof introducing emotions into the public sphere. Through thequalitative and descriptive methodology, a review of publicdocuments was carried out, fundamentally based on the pressfrom 2018. The analysis was based on four central themes:the construction of offense through arguments, the constructionof offense through slogans and images, the direction of interjectionand the politicization of emotion. It is concluded that thecontent of the violence frame that unfolded throughout thesemobilizations manages to place the experience of offense asthe central focus without allowing it to become the fixationon the place of the victim not on the victim’s submission. Onthe contrary, it is a tremendously mobilizing frame that increasesthe possibilities of having a sociocultural impact
