Abstract

Lioloma elongatum is the only species of the genus recorded for the South Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chile. Although it has been reported between 22°S and 29°S, we found the species widely distributed in the region. We provide a description and illustrate the morphology of the Chilean individuals for the first time, and also comment on the variability of some characteristics of the frustule.
