Abstract

Tomorrow’s architects will need to deal more confidently and skillfully with scientific and technological innovations in their field, e.g., parametric design, building physics, construction robotics, home automation, etc. Architecture students today must understand how things work and absorb some of the basic principles and techniques involved in their design, construction or operation. Now students need to build back some of that analytical, logical, critical, and analogical thinking that may have atrophied due to a traditional architectural education. Playing with toy construction kits for building automatic control and mobile robot models, does the job without losing the architect´s approach and attitude.
