Abstract

Abstract: this article aims to describe and rebuildthe provincial command of Cn. Julio Agrícola inGallia Aquitania. The life of Agrícola carried out by Tacitus and subsequent historiographicalstudies have given little relevance to this fact,framing it only as a previous milestone to reach theconsulate. The lack of evidence of all kindscomplicates the task; in this way, with the writtensources, it is necessary to give the context,geographical models, and the idea of Roman provincial interdependence an explanation of howAgrícola exercised the provincial command. Inthis way, we propose an attempt to reconstructhow a governor was chosen, as well as theforeseeable tasks and functions that he had to carryout in command of a province of praetorian rankat the beginning of the Flavian Era.
