Abstract

The present invention is focused on the field of the renin-angiotensin system, 5 in particular, the angiotensin-(1-9) peptide. In one particular embodiment, the present invention provides angiotensin-(1-9) analogs. The angiotensin-(1-9) analogs of this invention are related to a peptide formed by D-amino acids of the same angiotensin-(1-9) sequence, but in an inverted order. The carboxyl terminal of said analog may be free or amidated. Another embodiment provides pharmaceutical 10 compositions containing such analogs and methods to use the same for the treatment of cardiovascular, renal, and cerebral, diseases, and to provide cardioprotective and anti-remodeling effects in patients and animals.
