Abstract

This article, of a theoretical nature, has its genesis in the feminist student movement of 2018 in Chile. It is based on the relevance that social movements deserve, on the fundamental role played by the media in their projection, and the need to question the informative content raised by these platforms. The introduction first presents the relationship between the Chilean feminist wave and the media, focuses on the social movements in Chile, and then addresses the Chilean student movements of the 21st century. The previously mentioned is followed by an account of the implications of gender demands in social movements and the gender representations that are constructed and reproduced through the media. Finally, it presents an approach from a feminist perspective and some final considerations regarding the challenges for the media in the coverage of feminist mobilisations. It is hoped that this work will contribute to reflection and will serve to broaden the journalistic perspective of national and international media to put an end to gender inequalities and violence.
