Abstract

Summarizing the information and the amount of data coming from complex instruments to a cell phone is still a current research topic. The amount of data is increasing day by day and finding ways to store and process it is a great challenge. This book seeks to introduce, in a non-technical way, the main concepts of the data era. Starting from the definition of data, its generation, and collection to visualization and interpretation. We also explain machine learning, how it interacts with other disciplines, and its current challenges. We also refer to natural language processing, explaining its major difficulties and the tasks in which humans interact with machines through language. We delve into deep learning, from its origins to the current state to finally show the applications of data science and the benefits we get from data and its governance. This book is designed for non-experts who want to learn more about the era of data in which we live, marked by the dizzying generation of data and our increasingly frequent interaction with artificial intelligence.
