Polivictimización de niños/as migrantes en Iquique (Chile)*
Abstract
Based on the dialogue between the perspectives of poly-victimization and intersectionality, this article identifies experiences of multiple victimizations suffered by migrant children living in the coastal city of Iquique in northern Chile, while examining the strategies of agency that they use to confront them. In-depth interviews were conducted with migrant children, their families and public service professionals who work with young people. The results show how migrant children experience victimizations simultaneously in their schools and neighbourhoods, as well as in their families. We conclude that multiple nationalist, xenophobic, racist and adult-centred practices and discourses generate social subordination that makes migrant children subjects exposed to violence. However, far from remaining in the condition of victims, they have developed different strategies of resistance.
