Wetting of MgO by Cu2S-FeS melts

Abstract

The wetting of sintered MgO by Cu2S and Cu2S-FeS melts is studied by the sessile drop method in gettered Ar. Comparison of the wetting curves with those obtained using inert C v substrates enables conclusions to be drawn on the effect of interfacial reactions between sulfides and MgO on spreading kinetics, equilibrium contact angles, and adhesion. © The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society and ASM International 2007.
