Abstract

Chapter 7 addresses methods of generating therapeutic inhalation aerosols. To provide meaningful and updated information for the researcher in this area, the chapter is divided into two major sections. First, we address the physical principles and mechanisms of aerosol generation either from atomization, from powder particle redispersion, or by evaporation/condensation methods. With this basis, the second section introduces and describes the different device technologies. Collectively, this format allows both a clear overview of delivery technologies and also a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that allow for informed interpretation of therapeutic data presented in other chapters of this book.
