Notes about the CuerpAs Festival (2016-2020): discussions, inflections and resistance

Keywords: performance art, feminism, artivism

Abstract

The CuerpAs Women's Performance Festival (Chile) is organized by Perfolink.org and proposes a constant reflection on feminist themes in contemporary performance from Latin America. Through a revision of its annual versions that present works by international and local women artists, conversations between theorists, artists and the audience, we evidence how these actions contribute to open discussions in the field of performance and allow to rethink practices in this area. Special emphasis will be placed on the 2019 and 2020 versions, during the social revolt of Chile and later in pandemic, which forces to made it virtually, evidencing in both cases the art-life fusion and the spirit of resistance and solidarity that persists in the performance art. The analysis suggests various inflections in the field of corporeality and the subject/action/technological device relationship.
