Abstract

The reinstatement of democracy in Argentina in 1983 allowed a profound reform of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) in general and particularly its Institute of Anthropological Sciences (ICA). The Institute of Anthropological Sciences was led by the ethnohistorian Ana María Lorandi (1936-2017) between 1984 and 1990, years during which she modernized academic standards and restored researcher’s historical demands. One of the axes of its management was the reissue of Runa as a means of disseminating anthropological research in a broad sense. At that time, Ana María was already part of a transnational network of andinologists and had managed to install colonial Tucumán on the international academic agenda. The objective of this article is to jointly analyze the historical context and professional development of Lorandi in order to establish the formal and thematic changes that Runa experienced during her direction and how her imprint marked subsequent editions.
