Physical properties of {Fe-2(SO4)(3) + PEG 4000+H2O) solutions at high temperatures
Abstract
Physical properties (refractive index, density, sound velocity, and dynamic viscosity), of the ternary {Fe-2(SO4)(3) + PEG 4000 + H2O} system, and its constituent binary systems, over a wide concentration range at three different temperatures (T = 323.15, 333.15, and 343.15 K), were experimentally determined and correlated using the Othmer's rule, obtaining a good agreement between the experimental and correlated data. Derived properties (isentropic compressibility and excess molar volumes) were also determined by using the experimental densities and sound velocity data. Predictions of densities and refractive indices were performed using the Lorentz-Lorenz approximation obtaining a good agreement between experimental and predicted data. These properties have been discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions between the components of the solutions. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
