Delete, silence and censor the images of the social revolt of the Chilean October
Abstract
This essay reflects on the aesthetic and political implications that emerge from the intensive use of public space through images expressing social unrest in walls, streets and monuments in the context of the revolt of October 18 in Chile. At the same time, the ideological implications of its counterpart are analysed, that is, the ostensible censorship of such images through the use of a set of coercive and disciplinary devices aimed to appropriate the public space, as a social space and symbolic power always in dispute.
