Abstract

The curricular design of Industrial Engineering includes practices; however, the current training of engineers requires even more practical work. In this research project an experimental application of the Engineering Clinics methodology is carried out. In this methodology, students are the main actors in solving real problems, starting from a design, and ending in a real product. The methodology was applied to the Knowledge Integration Workshop. Each year the students manage to solve the proposed challenge and come up with useful final products. By means of a questionnaire, determined that 87% of the students are satisfied or very satisfied with the methodology used and in 90% they would recommend applying it in other subjects. Students also make the course is especially useful to achieve of transversal skills in teamwork, oral and written communication, and the use of the information and communications technologies (ICTs).
