Abstract

As part of the Institutional Improvement Project for Initial Teacher Training (PMI), the Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM) implemented an innovative program called Talent Attraction Program in Pedagogy (TAP), an initiative aimed at 11th and 12th grade students. The program is aimed at students from the Maule Region public schools with a high index of educational vulnerability, who have done well in school and have a pedagogical vocation. A first cohort has already been admitted to pedagogical study programs. Interest in the program among young people from different parts of the Maule region has increased progressively. The program’s contributions so far have helped overcome educational inequality and given added value to teaching. Training possibilities in different areas have opened and the construction of pedagogical vocation is being developed transversally.
