Characterization of sports programs aimed at people with disabilities and their participants in the region of Ñuble, Chile Caracterización de los programas deportivos destinados a personas con discapacidad y sus participantes en la región de Ñuble, Chile
Abstract
The Aim of the study was to characterize the sports programs for Persons with Disabilities and their participants in the Ñuble region. Material and method: the study corresponds to a non-experimental cross-sectional design with a descriptive scope. The units of analysis includes all the sports programs aimed at PcD from the databases provided by the National Sports Institute, the Community Development Directorate and the National Disability Service and their corresponding participants year 2019 at the regional level. Results: 14 active sports programs are reported that consider a participation of 275 People with disabilities, where 26,8% correspond to men and 73,1% to women. At the regional level, the type of program with the greatest presence is sports-recreational with 71,4%, while sports-competitive and sports-recreational programs are presented in 14,3%, in the 3 provinces of Ñuble (Diguillín, Punilla and Itata). Conclusion: a centralization is visualized in the programs concentrated in the province of Diguillín, Chillán commune, most of them belong to municipal organizations with a sports-recreational approach with a higher prevalence of female participants.
