Abstract

This paper analyzes the ruling in which the Supreme Court confirmed the inadmissibility of the habeas corpus in favor of Sandai, the orangutan deprived of liberty in the BuinZoo, and the ruling of the 8th Civil Court of Santiago that accepted a claim for free cessation of the joint ownership of two dogs. Next, it is explained how these decisions alter the traditional way of applying the rules of Animal Law.
