EFECTOS DEL SEDIMENTO FINO EN LAS INTERACCIONES TURBULENTAS DE LECHOS PERMEABLES

Keywords: Sediment ejections, turbulent interactions, fine sediment.

Abstract

This paper compares and analyses turbulent interactions near a gravel bed contaminated with fine sediment. The aim is to examine the effect of fine sediment on turbulent interactions near the gravel bed. The study uses Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) data from three experimental facilities at the Francisco Javier Dominguez laboratory of the University of Chile. A quadrant analysis, vertical velocity analysis, and spectral density analysis were conducted at three points: upstream of the pore, in the pore, and downstream of the pore to examine velocity fluctuations. The results indicate that the pore can modify turbulent interactions and spectral density distribution in areas close to the gravel bed only when sediment ejection is present.
