Valdes, Ana; Tolorza, V.; Aguilar, G.

Abstract

This issue, several studies present an analysis of the extreme meteorological events that have occurred over the last 15 years and their relationship to landslides affecting Chile; Addresses environmental pollution, evaluating the impacts of meteorological events on the redistribution of metals and metalloids accumulated by mining activities, with the aim of differentiate between anthropogenic and natural geochemistry anomalies. Air pollu-tion is another aspect addressed in this issue, focusing on the effect of dispersion of particulate material from tailing deposits and harmful atmospheric emissions. In addition, a characterization of fluvial systems and a spatial and temporal analysis of changes in suspended sediment flows in central Chile during the mega-drought are presented.
