Philosophical Sources for the study of the Aristotelianism in Colonial Chile

Abstract

The article presents the results of an exploratory research in different Chilean archives. The goal of the article is to identify and catalogue the philosophical manuscripts on Aristotelian philosophy in the colonial times (XVI-XIX centuries). The article seeks at first to present some notes on the general development of Aristotelianism in order to emphasize the lack of knowledge about the evolution of this tradition in colonial Chile. Then, the works, their authors, the location and table of contents are organized in four categories (complete works, logics, physics, and metaphysics). The main purpose of the article is to provide a basic organization in order to guide new research in this area.
