Surface tuned Au-ZnO nanorods for enhanced electrochemical sensing ability towards the detection of gallic acid
Abstract
Au decorated zinc oxide with rod-like structure was synthesized by hydrothermal method. XRD and DRS UV-Visible spectroscopy analyzed the crystal structure and optical properties of the sample. The FE-SEM and HRTEM show a stable morphology structure composed of Au nanoparticles decorated on zinc oxide rod surface. The size-reduced gold nanoparticle increases ZnO electrocatalytic property, and the glassy carbon modified Au/ZnO working electrode is used for Gallic acid (GA) biomolecule sensing in medium pH 7. The Au decorated ZnO nanomaterial exhibits enhanced electrocatalytic behavior through sensitivity (0.0536 mu A mu M- 1) and limit of detection (0.0118 mu M). The improved electrocatalytic performance of prepared bio-compatible Au decorated ZnO material used for bio-sensing application.
