Abstract

The scientific evidence of women who have sex with women is scarce, so both professionals and women believe that they have a low or no risk of contagion of sexually transmitted infections. Objective is to describe the sexual health of women who have sex with women. Method Descriptive cross-sectional. A sample of 603 women, residing in Chile between the ages of 18 and 45, data was collected through a self-applied survey between June and December of the year 2020. The data were analyzed in a program Spss v.26. Results The mean age was 26.1 + SD 6.3 years, 73.3% of the sample declared to be lesbian and 26.7% bisexual. It is observed that 81.9% of the total do not use barrier mechanisms and of these, 61.7% report that it is due to having a single partner and 21.05% due to lack of access. 76.5% of the sample had daily gynecological check-ups and of these, 42.8% reported having felt discriminated against in clinical care. Given the limited age range of the sample, it is not possible to determine whether the use of barrier mechanisms or a predilection for one is related to age. Conclusion There is still a lack of knowledge about the sexual health of women who have sex with women, Therefore, it is recommended to update counseling on sexual and reproductive health in a comprehensive manner, ensuring the inclusive risk approach and according to individual needs according to diversity.
