Scale design to encourage the self-regulated development of a digital portfolio in engineering education
Abstract
The objective of this research was to design a scale for the self-regulated development of a digital portfolio and to estimate the psychometric properties through exploratory factor analysis. The design was instrumental and 134 Chilean engineering students participated. The scale was designed from a literature review, validation by expert judges, and cognitive interviews. The results indicated adequate validity and reliability indices; being made up of 24 items represented in 3 factors: 1) Planning of the Digital Portfolio, 2) Execution of the Digital Portfolio, 3) Reflection on the Development of the Digital Portfolio. It is concluded that the scale can be useful to measure self-regulation skills in the development of a digital portfolio in research contexts and / or for teachers who apply it in virtual, hybrid or face-to-face classroom.
