Abstract

The street performance Un violador en tu camino (A Rapist on Your Way) (2019), promoted by the Chilean group of artists LasTesis, has and displays a poetic and political potential that lies in generating a new way of knowing for women. This path towards knowledge has four central components: the flow between theory and experience, promoting feminist ideas and practices that dismantle the notion of rape motivated by a libidinal impulse; consideration of bodily gestures as systems of memory transmission that link to a repressive present to the past of the dictatorship; development of a new proposal of language that promotes the legitimacy of the word “femicide”; and, the social transformation towards the formation of a group of women as a transversal unity, having the necessary strength to denounce in the public space.
