Lillo, Pedro A. Martinez; Arcos, Javier Castro

Abstract

The article focuses on explaining the Chilean participation in the Inter-American Cold War, deepening in the international links during the Popular Unity Government and its end, after the coup d’état of September 11, 1973. The different moments of Chilean international policy in the Inter-American Cold War scenario are analyzed, showing the interaction between domestic policy decisions in the light of the external tensions and influences involved in the political polarization and subsequent breakdown of democracy.
