Interventionism and the Third World: The crisis of the Dominican Republic in the Global Cold War (1965-1966).

Abstract
The present paper analyzes the occupation of Santo Domingo in 1965 which was the largest US military operation directed against a Latin American country, not only during the Cold War, but in the entire century. In a global Cold War framework, on the one hand, by the detente between the superpowers after the Cuban missile crisis and, on the other, by the force of the Third World and Third World internationalism, the authors explain the impact of the events that occurred on this Caribbean Island had on post-colonial construction, as well as defining a global anti-imperialist struggle. Finally, and according to the review of historical archives from North America, France, and Latin America, among others, which are the primary and secondary sources that accompany the analysis of the proposed research, these conclusions will be delivered in accordance with this historical research.
