Abstract

Introduction: School programs have benefited in multiple ways from the installation and management of collaborative educational networks. Given the current climate crisis, in environmental education this challenge generates interest despite the lack of background in the field. Objective: The purpose of this research was to identify the role of a collaborative network in the implementation of a local environmental education program. Materials and methods: An analysis of the content of surveys, focus groups and teaching sessions was carried out, in which 70 educational actors from the establishments that are part of the program participated. Results: Four categories related to the program's intervention model were identified: ecocitizenship, greening of the school, institutional greening and territorial awareness. At the same time, it was detected that the network fulfills the function of sustaining the implementation of these four aspects, being an administrative support, leadership, development of competencies and social support. Conclusions: The importance of promoting collaborative networks at multiple levels of environmental education programs to facilitate their capacity for transformation is discussed, especially in contexts where technical guidelines and structural resources for their execution are lacking.
