Abstract

This article examines the work Fuerte Bulnes by Armando Braun Menéndez on the basis of a review and collation of the documentation that the author had on hand at the time of its preparation. This material makes up the so-called «Fuerte Bulnes Fund», kept by the Regional Museum of Magallanes in Punta Arenas. Biographical background on the author is given, together with a critical review of his historiographical work. In addition, the context of the book’s production is analyzed and elements outlined but not developed by the author are explained, particularly those relating to the Aónikenk presence on the south-eastern coast of the Brunswick Peninsula.
