Abstract

The Villarrica volcano has several features including nearby towns (Pucon, Coñaripe, Lican-Ray and Villarrica), coexisting with a high risk, their socio-cultural environment, the geotourism potential (infrastructure and tourism operators) and its geological heritage. These are suitable for the development of knowledge and dissemination of geological attractions. Some of the teaching, accessible, with Internet access via mobile phone and quality for the understanding of the volcano sites, correspond to: pyroclastic flows, basaltic to andesitic lavas, volcanic caves with pahoehoe lavas, lahar flows with different types of records, among many others. They have been selected preliminarily 10 Geosites to be evaluated by a methodology for determining the geological heritage interest, made in the SERNAGEOMIN. This information, together with geology, topography and satellite imagery will be freely available for viewing on site or behind a desk, through mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones, using GIS visualization tools 3D open access (Google Earth and Leapfrog Aspect), and so a tour in 3D using augmented reality technology, where environmental aspects are integrated with information from geological heritage.
