Photographic Image and Blocks of Sensations: Relationships between Authorial Experience and Photographic Form in Productive Landscapes in Chile Imagen fotográfica y bloques de sensaciones: relaciones entre experiencia autoral y forma fotográfica en los paisajes productivos en Chile

Abstract

The relationship between photographic form and the emotional experience of authors is explored in six contemporary photographic practices in Chile (2000-2020), conducted in correspondence with territories transformed by current modes of production. A method combining in-depth interviews with micro-phenomenological components was used to access sensorial and emotional experience. Through this, six blocks of sensations were identified, which predominate in different proportions in each of the analyzed authors, allowing for a contrast between the emotional aspect and a morphological analysis of the images. The results show possible correlations between the form of the image and the emotional experience of the authors, demonstrating that damage to the environment has an emotional impact on them, reflected in their photographic work, and that it is an aspect that can be additional to argumentative, social, or historical interpretations of the artwork.
