Abstract

This work pretends to present nine previously unknown documents related to the preparation, execution, and reception of the first Mapuche-Spanish parliament in Quillín in 1641. These documents differ from those previously published because their authors were high ranking secular leaders. We hope that the addition of these documents will allow for the creation of new areas of study related to the Arauco Indian war and the political intentions of Chile’s 17th-century Spanish governors. © 2023 Universidad de Chile, Facultad de Filosofia y Humanidades, Departamento de Literatura.
