The Impact of Agricultural Activities on Fog Formation in an Arid Zone of Chile
Abstract
It is known that changes in land use can induce important changes in local and global meteorological conditions, especially in and zones. In this article we perform model studies to determine the impact of irrigated agricultural activities on the local meteorological variables in the and Elqui Valley in Chile. To this end, different case studies are analysed, for a late spring day (November) and a late summer day (March) with and without cultivated valley floor. Comparisons between these simulations allow us to determine where fog may form due to agricultural activities.
