Carthago delenda est. Donald Trump's imprint on US Foreign Policy

Aranda Bustamante, Gilberto; Riquelme Rivera, Jorge

Abstract

The article analyzes the main characteristics of the foreign policy of the United States during the Trump administration. In this sense, this paper argues that, as a populist and Jacksonian leader, Trump put into practice a markedly personalist and nationalist foreign policy, through an essentially conflictive interpretation of international relations, which is manifested in an accentuated criticism of multilateral institutions, isolationism, and the obstruction of migratory flows.
