Abstract

This study analyzed internet access and digital skills related to information and communication technology (ICT) among old persons in Brazil, focusing on the Baby Boom Late, Baby Boom Early, and Silent Generations. Using secondary data from ICT households 2021 (Cetic.br), the research adopted a descriptive and exploratory approach, supported by data analysis and visualization through Power BI. The results revealed important insights into the sample profile. Notably, there was a lack of interest in technology across all generations, although the data was most promising for the Late Baby Boom Generation. Regarding sex and race, white women stood out as the most involved and adept at using the internet for their own benefit, while white men showed better results in digital literacy and computer literacy. On the other hand, the worst indicators, including lack of interest, poor skills, low literacy, and limited income, were observed in the black population. These results highlight the need for joint efforts by government and society to improve the basic digital skills of the country's elderly population, as well as to implement policies that promote access to technology.
