Abstract

The colonial dispossession of the mapuche people is sustained by the imperalism and patriarchy that is updated in different socio-historical moments. In addition, these oppressions intersect women in a particular way. We frame this article in a doctoral thesis with mapuche women, in and from the diaspora, and we reflect in a decolonial and gender perspective on the experiences of sexualities and maternities of mapuche women living in the city of Santiago and the Wallmapu -the mapuche historical territory-, and on their experiences of sexuality and maternity. We used a qualitative methodology through participant observation, interviews with six researchers and in-depth interviews with mapuche women in the Metropolitan Region, Biobío, La Araucanía and Los Ríos. The results we present show intersectionalities of class, race and gender. Likewise, they also show subjectivities, political practices of transformations and continuities of mapuche tradition in everyday family, community and political spaces.
