Caracterización de las concepciones de lectura de estudiantes de pedagogía en inglés: ¿cómo se relacionan con sus estrategias lectoras?

Abstract
Reading strategies used by university students in the development of academic reading in English turn out to be essential for the cognitive development and the construction of meanings. In Chile it is reported that the reading strategies in university students are little varied. Therefore, the objective of this paper was to characterize and analyze the conceptions about the reading as those can guide the use of certain reading strategies in the first-year students of Pedagogy of English. Regarding the methodology, this was quantitative and descriptive, the participants were 45 to whom two questionnaires- one on conceptions of reading and the other on reading strategies- were applied. Finally, it was identified that the Pedagogy of English students present both reproductive and epistemic conceptions with a predominance of one of both profiles. The reading strategies are used mainly before and during the reading.
