Evaluation of predictive torque control of a PMSM under model parameter mismatch
Abstract
Predictive torque control (PTC) has emerged as an effective alternative to field oriented control (FOC) for the control of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). However, the performance of predictive control methods is limited by the accuracy of the mathematical model used for prediction. In this paper, the sensitivity of PTC with respect to resistance and inductance changes in the prediction model is assessed and compared with that of FOC. The comparison is carried out by simulation in MATLAB/Simulink, allowing to evaluate the effects of inaccurate parameter values in terms of transient response and total harmonic distortion (THD).
