Abstract

This research is part of a macro teaching project and is part of an inter-faculty study in which three institutions of higher education (IES) in the city of Bogota participated. The project consists of two phases: the first phase consisted of the review and analysis of the curriculum of the Nursing program, to identify, within the subjects, topics related to the development of competencies in palliative care (PC) in nursing students and, according to what is recorded in the programs, to characterize their teaching. For the purposes of this work, the competencies in palliative care for nursing are assumed according to what was established by the Colombian Network of Education in Palliative Care (Redcoledupal) in the first meeting held in 2015 (1), which are raised in the theoretical framework of this work. The second phase corresponds to the application of semi-structured interviews to the teachers of those subjects identified in phase I, which address issues associated with the development of competencies in palliative care in nursing students, in order to know how each teacher approaches the contents directly and indirectly related to the development of competencies in palliative care, based on their experiences and meanings. The scope of this research corresponds to the development of phase I, in a Higher Education Institution (HEI)
