Abstract

The Second Chilean Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Partial Differential Equations (WO-NAPDE 2007) was organized at the University of Concepción, Chile, on January 16-19, 2007. The meeting was aimed to bring together researchers from different fields of numerical analysis for partial differential equations to exchange ideas and present their current research. The scientific program covered various topics on finite elements and numerical methods for conservation laws. Plenary lectures, mini-symposia with presentations, and some contributed talks were also organized during the meeting. A special issue of Applied Numerical Mathematics contained the papers accepted for publication after a refereeing process that meet the standards of the journal. The papers were grouped into sections that were 'finite element methods and applications' and 'numerical methods for conservation laws and related equations'.
