Gender barriers in the Chilean judiciary: An analysis from the glass ceiling theory
Abstract
This article uses 'glass ceiling' theory to analyze barriers affecting the access of female judges to high-level positions in the Chilean Judiciary. This theory is applied to the outcomes of an integrated diagnosis on gender discriminations developed within the framework of a legal-social applied research project, which identifies and describes stereotypes, representations and practices resulting in barriers that explain gender gaps in the Chilean judiciary.
