Representations, stereotypes and discrimination against LGBTIQ+ people in the Chilean Judiciary Representaciones, estereotipos y discriminación hacia personas LGBTIQ+ en el PJUD*
Abstract
This article presents the results from an empirical study on gender representations within the Chilean Judiciary. The research identifies gender beliefs, roles and stereotypes at internal level, i.e. among staff members, as well as at external level, i.e. towards users, which result in discriminatory attitudes towards LGBTIQ+ people. The results show that, despite recent changes in this institutionâs organizational culture, there still is a clear binary, heteronormative and cisnormative vision that affects staffâs carriers as well as access to justice of users from sexual diversities and dissidences.
