Abstract

Feminist epistemological contributions have highlighted the need to re-signify and reinvent the methodological devices of the social sciences. In this context, this paper proposes intersectionality as a theoretical-methodological device for studying migration. We approach intersectionality from Coloniality of Gender, which allows us to deepen our understanding of the historical and contextual factors that enhance the dynamics of inequality, exclusion, and vulnerability in the immigrant collective. To illustrate the analytical value, we analyze four interviews conducted with immigrant women in the Maule Region (Chile). The findings highlight that intersectionality enriches the analysis, emphasizing the interweaving of identity factors, migratory experiences, and political-institutional conditions.
