Micropolitics of Leisure: Notes on Architects' Work and Daily Life Micropolíticas del ocio: Apuntes en torno al trabajo y la vida cotidiana de los arquitectos

Abstract

In the context of the current labor flexibility process and the weakening of the barriers between work and life, this article seeks to approach the professional identity of architects, paying attention to the contemporary ways in which work and leisure coexist in their daily experience. Based on a qualitative methodological strategy implemented in Santiago, Chile through self-ethnographies and in-depth interviews, we suggest that the negotiation between "technical" and "artistic" that crosses the architectural work is not solved in the architect’s professional profile or specific occupations, but rather in how they manage their daily time.
