Nunez, Andrea; Boisier, Guy; Klerkx, Laurens

Abstract

This article explores the implications of incorporating milking systems in the labour practices of dairy workers in southern Chile. The research design was qualitative, exploratory and cross-sectional. The fieldwork consisted of field observations and semi- structured interviews with producers and workers located in the Los Rios and Los Lagos regions. The main changes observed from the perspective of the producers are transformations in the distribution of time, place of work and administration of agricultural personnel. In the case of workers, changes observed in work routines, tasks and skills, which respectively intensify, change and/or are lost.
