FCS-MPC Based Primary Control With Improved Performance for Islanded AC Microgrids
Abstract
In this paper, applying a full state-variable Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) with improved droop controller for parallel operated power inverters in islanded microgrids is described. Virtual impedance and robust droop control are conducted as the outer loop to generate the appropriate reference. Then the FCS-MPC allows the power inverter to track the voltage and current reference with improved performance, considering the dynamic response, the plug-and-play capability, and the amicable realization which are challenging tasks for conventional method. The proposed control scheme has a more compact structure and simplifies the design procedure. Experimental measurements in different operation modes verified its effectiveness. Consequently, FCS-MPC manifests great potential to be a promising alternative for power inverter control of AC microgrids.
