Abstract

The article aims to distinguish mesas rituales at the Aymara community of Cobija as cavities or "aberturas" built for the reception of gifts, and focuses on the ethnographic description of a ritual dedicated to Cerro Marquez (Chile). The case presented shows that mesas are inserted in a broad Andean tradition of mountain´s offerings and in a complex and current local heritage referring to culinary offerings. In methodological terms, this work is the result of an ethnographic research that has been developed from 2015 to date.
