Prcticas y creencias de mujeres indgenas evanglicas migrantes en torno a la violencia de gnero
Abstract
Though research on violence against women at the hands of their male partners has significantly increased, few studies examine indigenous migrant and evangelical women in the cities. This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of how women in patriarchal religious groups manage and, acting as agents, use some symbolic and practical elements to face violence. Based on an ethnography and a series of thirteen in-depth interviews conducted between 2015 and 2017 with Quechua -speaking women in Lima and Mesoamerican women in Mexico City, this paper presents findings that show how these agents use ecclesial support networks and the image of Christ to submit themselves to him as a true man when their spouses lose legitimacy through violent behavior.
